I have an 03 Ram QC, and it has never stalled, or even come close, but one time I was driving with my buddy in his 02 QC and he was backing out of a parking spot, and the RPM's dropped way down to like 100 RPM, didn't stall, but came damn close.. We were like WTF?

I have a 2500 SLT with Hemi. It's a great truck. There is indeed a problem with a small percentage that do have a stall problem. It is no secret. If you get one and it has that problem (or any other), hammer the hell out of your dealer and Dodge. Just keep pressing them and don't relent. But don't let that possibility stop you from buying one. It is like anything else. 99.9% are fine. .01% ahave a real problem. Get what you want and enjoy it!

Good grief, Tatsu...

Just buy the d**ned hemi! Judging a vehcle (any vehicle) based on its forum posts is like determining all people have cancer by hanging around a cancer clinic. Many people come to forums for answers to problems, pure and simple.

Go to any vehicle forum and you'll find the same phenomenon, i.e. that vehicle has nothing but problems.

Buy, drive, enjoy! And, if you DO get a 4.7, I'm guessing that like many, you'll wish you'd gotten the hemi before long.

All the best, and welcome aboard!

there is a reason over half the 1500s come with the hemi... it is the only way to go... the truck will only stall if you do not give it about 5 seconds to wake up after you start it before you put it in reverse...

4.7 is (no offense) not up to the task IMHO that it is given in these trucks... Course I am coming out of a camaro, mark viii, police spec caprice etc, so i have a skewed perspective on thrust to wight ratios.

04 QC Hemi 2WD, never stalled @ 33.6k miles. Had it in weather from 0 degrees up to 110 degrees. Only thing that has surprised me was that right after he starts, if I take off too soon, he gets jumpy. Scared the sh*t out of a guy when I tapped the gas and left rubber backing out of my parking spot.

Get the Hemi. I've never met anyone who said "Gee, I wish I had bought the 4.7 instead..."

Interesting that I ran across this thread...

I've been having a stalling issue also and came on hear to search about it (well it's only happened 2X's in the 11 months we've owned it) and both times I was doing about 5mph or under and it happened when I was turning the steering wheel (you know when you turn it to the point that you can't turn it anymore?) that's when it happened - when I got to the steering wheel stopping point.

Sounds a little different than everyone else's who are having this issue when switching gears...
I'd like to hear more feedback on this.

I'm not gonna b!tch or complain about my truck - I absolutely love it! And no.. this issue would not stop me from buying another. Every vehicle will have their problems.
