Transmission won't shift past 2nd gear
 

Hello all, hope a is well.
I have a prolem maybe some of you gear heads can help me out with. I drive a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.7L V8 with a 545RFE tranny.
Let me start from the beginning. Out of the blue while I was driving my truck it started slipping gears and eventually it woulde't go into any gear. Well, to make a long story short. I droped the transmission oil pan and low and behold there was my oil coolant filter laying in the bottom of my oil pan. So I went ahead and changed the fluid, the two filters and pan gasket. Filled it up with the atf+4 fluid while following procedure. Started backing down the driveway with no problems. Put it in drive, it shifted a little hard but I figured it's got to re-learn when to shift. Started going down the road. It shifted smooth in to 1st and 2nd gears. But when it shifted in to third it revved high like it was in neutral. I could fill it pull but bearly at high rpms. So I went back home in second gear checked fluid, looked for leaks etc... and thats where I'm at. Do you gooroo's have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.

I got my buddy's code reader. The only code it puts off is P0733. Gear 3 incorrect ratio. I hope this will help y'all help me out.

Wonder if you are having o-ring issues on one of the filters.....

I changed the seal that went to the oil cooler filter I taped it up tight with a socket before I installed the filter. The sump filter diden't have a seal.

Should be an o-ring for the sump filter, that goes on the rise that plugs into the pump intake.

Yes you are right. I ment the kit didn't come with one. There for I didn't change it. It felt tight when I put on the sump filter but maybe that doesn't mean anything.

Is it possible that the seal/o ring for the flat pan filter was already on the filter when you installed it?
You will get codes if that flat filter is installed cocked at all. It has to be flush with the throttle body before you install the mounting screw.
I would first assume that the tranny pump is sucking air because the pan filter is not seated properly, or, the fluid level is low.

Fluid level says full. Ill drop the pan again and check the o-rings. Thanks for the advice.

i dropped the pan and the o-ring looks good its seated flush. Is there any thing else I should look at while I have the pan off?

See if there is a second o-ring still in the hole.
