What's In-Dash Electrical unit?
I do not know what this may connect to but it is some type of 'motion' transfer unit that has a: 'purple/black' wire and a 'yellow/blue' wire leading somewhere. The 'Silver' circular piece has 2 prongs on opposite ends as though they engage with the connection point, to transfer power. ? This is in a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, SLT., 5.7 liter, 5 spd auto trans. Other than a cruise control connection, I have no idea what it may go to as their are no power seats, pedal adjustments or steering wheel or column adjustment.

That may be the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI). See if you can get out of park without pushing on the brake.

The part in the first post is the BTSI, and it is part of the shift cable. Without the BTSI the truck can be shifted out of park with key off, and, can be shifted out of park without depressing the brake.

One has to wonder if a previous owner did that on purpose. I remember when shift interlocks first came in. I was stuck for 45 minutes. :icon_angel: |
grouch, that's what I was thinking too.
Maybe had a bad brake switch or ignition cylinder. |
Thanks
