Default EGR and Throttle Body work w/ pics

Well, little over a month ago my CEL came on, I got it checked out and found out I had an issue with the EGR. I ordered a new EGR from rockauto.com for $42.08 including shipping (part# EGV827).

This morning I went out into the cold and got to work. I started with the EGR and removed that bad boy. It was really dirty and in need of being replaced

I then replaced the old EGR with the new one. everything lined up perfectly and I got it all done. The bottom bolts are 10mm and the side bolts are 8mm. Make sure you have a deep dwell 10mm or else it will be hard to take the bottom bolts off and get them back on.
After replacing the EGR, I opened up the fuse box and pulled fuse #23 to reset the pcm.

After that, I turned the ignition to the on position, not starting it, waited for the chime (took about 6 seconds) and then I replaced the fuse, cranked the engine, and the CEL was gone! I've put on about 30 miles since and the light has stayed off.

After that I attacked the throttle body. I have the hemi hat on so I unbolted the two 10mm bolts holding the hat down and slipped the air hose off going to the intake and unclipped the plug in front of the hat.

Removing the Tb was pretty simple, just 4 8mm bolts around the square body and then unclipped the plug on top of the TB. The front (orange side) was greasy looking but not overly dirty until I flipped it around...

...yeah it was in need to a good cleaning. So I spent a good amount of time with clean rags and brake cleaner wiping away all the gunk. I couldn't get it soptless but it's much better than before.

And thats really it. I also polished my procomp wheels which were nasty and caked with crud and I installed some 55w foglights on my rear bumper to help me back up at night.

She runs awesome now. Its so nice being able to look at my dash and not see that stupid engine light.
Also as a heads up, be careful when taking off the plug on top of the EGR. I broke mine by pulling too hard and so now I cannot lock it with the red pin anymore. SO BE CAREFUL!

let me know if you have any questions or have requests for pics.

Just stay away from the alternator with the cleaners and water. You'll burn it up real quick. That's not to say it can't take a mild shower, but no direct spraying. Also, once you get the engine degreased, I would reccomend regular baths with just water or even the soap from the carwash since it's so watered down. The aluminum doesn't like soaps/detergents and it gets all oxidizes with white spots. The car washes only use hot water with the soaps so i just use it as it's so watered down like I stated.
I regularly clean my engine off. Never had a problem ever! Just keep your engine running and when pressure washing just keep off the alternator any open air filters if you have a cai and don't get so close to the plug wires with the pressure. Everything else can take a bath. All the connectors under your hood are all double sealed and water resistant. Don't worry about the battery. I spray that all the time. However, I do have some clear terminal spray that I use evr so often to keep them clean. It helps alot. I have owned a Detail shop for 6yrs now. Never had one complaint ever, or any issue's for that matter. Most have no clue how dirty under the hood is even if you show them once it's cleaned. The on's who do are amazed i get it so cleaned. They think I spent hours....lmao

Sounds like good advice...I never thought about keeping the engine running while washing it. I'll do that next time. The engine area really isn't all that dirty but a lot of times I'll have mud all up in the frame and on top of the skid plates below the engine so I try and get that all washed out.
