Default P 0585

I have a code: P0585 when I do the key trick thing to bring up codes with the ignition off. I looked it up and it has something to do with the cruise control. Is this something that will go away or what? Haven't checked the cruise to see if it works right now, it did 3 days ago, will check in the morning...do I need to worry? Thanks guys!

The diagnostics say that the code you set can happen if two different control buttons in the CC system are pushed at the same time for more than 450 miliseconds. If this is the case, then no repairs are necessary. I would get the code erased and start over.

Yeah,I have had that same code on my 03 Hemi.
What I found was, it was driver error in the timing of pushing the buttons.
If I was too quick putting cruise on then hitting the set speed, you know, using two hands at once, cruise wouldn't set.
It would then flag the P0585 error doing the key trick.
All I do now to stop this is :-
1) set cruise to on.
2) wait 1-2 seconds.
3) hit the set speed button.
4) leave my foot on the gas for another second or so, then lift off.

Cruise is then set. It sounds horrendous and overcomplicated but hey, it works for me.

I also don't press the buttons long either. Just a one off, firm press is all that's needed.
I've had no troubles or codes since starting this routine.
Al.
