McGaughy's 4/2 Drop on my 4x2 CC Bighorn Installed!
I finally got around to debadging and putting the McGaughy's 4/2 kit on my truck. Turned out very nice, IMO. It measured at 38.5" from ground to center of the fender lip in the back and 36.5" in the front stock. It went to 35" in the rear and 34" in the front after the kit was installed. I expect it will settle a bit as I put some miles on it and end up a little bit lower. Ride quality is noticeably decreased, but it's still by no means a bad riding truck. I'm extremely happy with the outcome.... Still debating on whether to remove the running boards or not. At this point, I kind of like them... but I suspect it would be a little "sportier" looking without them... Here's a before and a couple after pics....
Also, will definitely have to adjust my headlights. I've been getting flashed by everyone since I put the kit on. Is that a tough job with our trucks? I know changing bulbs is a PITA..... http://carlinracing.com/Pictures/for...dge/dodge1.jpg http://carlinracing.com/Pictures/for...dge/dodge2.jpg http://carlinracing.com/Pictures/for...dge/dodge3.jpg http://carlinracing.com/Pictures/for...dge/dodge4.jpg |
forget those that flash you, 4 inches puts you inline with a small SUV.

After doing a bit of driving (Houston to Memphis and back) I think it's the fog lights that are pissing people off... Once I shut them off, I had no more complaints. Weird...
FWIW, I was towing a fully loaded 6'x12' uHaul trailer and it handled the towing like a champ. I didn't get much rear end sag at all with the lower springs. The drive was fine and it handed all the extra weight in the rear with no problem.... |
It looks good! Great job!!!!

Did you put it on yourself? I'm doing mine next week and was wondering if it was hard to install, and how long it took
|
I had help, but it wasn't too bad. Took us just over 2 hours with a spring compressor. If you know how to use one, it's a breeze. You have to drill one hole to relocate the rear tortion bar, but it's fairly straightforward.
