Possible new 11' hemi 1500 owner - what's real world MPG?
 

I know this question is probably all over the place, I searched a lot, however I keep finding most responses from people who have a lot of mods or are lifted with oversize wheels and just guessing.

For a 2011 Hemi 1500 quad cab short bed, what would be expected for real world MPG? I'm not expecting anything great, I'm coming from an 06 Mustang GT with 4.10's, I never saw over 13-15 mpg average. It'd just be nice to know what to expect and factor in.

Most driving would be highway and 'around town' at around 45 mph. Nothing done, bone stock from the showroom.

Under those conditions, I get 14-16 in town, and 20-22 on the road. I do drive like an old man, and try to nurse good numbers out of it.

It's really hard to keep your foot out of the throttle!

That's nothing new to me lol. I have a magnaflow off-road x-pipe and magnaflow magnapack catback's on the mustang. I used to destroy the throttle lol :icon_warped:

So without accelerating rougly from stops and driving steady, I should see 18-22 on the highway? 65 +/- 5mph

There is a thread at the top of the 4th gen page about gas mileage. Very informative. Lots of people posting what they are getting in MPG. Its called "Official MPG 4th Gen"

You'll have to keep it below 65 if you want to get near or above 20MPG

I have a 2009 crew cab and see 15-16 around town and always 18+ on the highway. I have gotten up to 22 on the highway by really babying it and making sure the MDS stays on as much as possible.....also my sweet spot is about 72-73mph. My MPG actually goes down when I am doing 65

If you care at all about the mileage don't buy it. You will not be happy. Mileage is not as advertised because who has perfect situations, no wind, really do they do actual road tests to figure out mileage. If you drive like a normal person should you will be moderately happy with your mileage but once you get behind that power, very hard not to hammer it once in a while , all it take to throw out your mileage.

If you are even remotely concerned about MPG, a full size V8 pickup is not for you.

I know I have said it before, but I am truly amazed how many post there are about gas mileage on this forum. This is a RAM forum, not a Civic forum.

You will get somewhere between 10mpg and 20mpg, depending on your driving habits, and the mix or city/highway. This is NOT good MPG, even at 20mpg. However, for a full size V8 pickup it is perfectly acceptable.

So you if you want a truck, buy the RAM, I love mine every time I drive it. But, you get what you buy. If you want MPG, look elsewhere.

I assume elsewhere would not be a full size pickup of any brand. Maybe one of those mini pickups I dont even know if anyone makes one still like an S-10 or what was the Dodge one D-50 or something like that?
