I buy all my dino oil on sale in the $2 qt range. Mobil, Pensoil, Valvoline, Quaker State or Castrol. Purolater or Wix filter. I change it myself every 3k to 4k miles. $20 to do an oil change. It has worked fine for me for over 20 years and my last 04 Durango had over 130k when sold and used almost no oil between changes. I average over 20k miles and pull 3k - 8k lb trailers over 6k miles a yr.

'lots has changed in 20years"....
One would think so right?
So why is it that in the US the US car manufacturers and even the Japanese and European car manufacturers are encouraging us to change oil every 3k, just like 20-30-40yrs ago...
A lot of the Japanese and European cars sold in Europe have recommended oil change cycles of 10k miles.
Could it be that we are brainwashed and that the manufacturers are deliberately using scare tactics so that we go back to them for oil so that they can find more things to work on?
Just food for thought! A buddy of mine ran his truck on the same oil and filter for 20k and put 160k on his truck without a single problem
