I was perfectly happy with my 2014 1500 Laramie but knew I was in trouble when I casually started searching my local dealers for Power Wagons over the last few months. I have lusted after the PW since its modern introduction. I owned a 2006 Ram 2500HD before my 2014 1500 Laramie. The rough ride of the 2500HD leafs springs grew old after 8 years of ownership so a 1500 coil suspension was heaven. Problem was that I had some life style contradictions with the posh leather seats in my 1500 Laramie. Seat covers were always on since I live rural and am a hardcore hunter. I missed the larger 2500/3500 frame and size. My dealer just got in a perfectly optioned Power Wagon for my needs. One test drive and it was a easy sale. The Power Wagon is a force. So much so even the Chevy and Ford guys are giving me the thumbs up all the time. :smiley_thumbs_up: I can't believe how much better the new 2500/3500 suspension is over my last 2006 2500. It road extremely close in comfort to my 2014 1500 Laramie. I knew I had to take a few pics for its forum introduction. I waxed and detailed this monster on Sunday.



I went over it as a concourse judge would. The paint is absolutely perfect. The new Ram paint facility has really stepped up with this truck. I don't know if it's because it's color is black metallic but quality control missed nothing. Fit and finish and door gaps are perfect. Even inside the door jams are painted to perfection with no sags or runs. Probably the best paint I have ever seen on a domestic vehicle. Certainly rivals my Audi A8 in paint.

Thanks guys. The ride quality was what made the sale so easy. It's soooo much better than the leaf springs. Very close to the 1500,which is outstanding. Comparing the power of the 6.4L /6speed with 4:10 to my last 5.7l/8 speed 3:92. That's pretty much as top optioned out for low end grunt for both series of trucks. My 1500 had lots of power with a very smooth delivery. Effortlessly climbed up the mountain I live on. The PW is a animal. Pure and simple. It's in its own league. Low end grunt is stupid strong. The 6 speed isn't quite as smooth as the ZF 8speed but it's so close that unless you owned both, you would say they are both luxury smooth on the highway. 65mph to 90mph jumps are effortless with both trucks. What I found amazing is that the Power Wagon is so civilized on the highway and in daily driving activities. The 1500 Ram will do what 97% of most light duty truck owner want with outstanding luxury amenities. The Power Wagon is a specialty designed vehicle that deserves the "king of the trucks" title and certainty earned its reputation.
It's overkill for even the most demanding off road needs I have every put a 4x4 through with my past Jeeps and trucks. Think of it as a "zombie apocalypse" truck that is easy to live with every day. It's huge, flashy and attracts attention every where it goes and for the guy that believes....."If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing".

 

Looks like you also need some step boards or a ladder. LOL

I too almost pulled the trigger on a Power Wagon its exactly everything that I would want in a truck. Then when the deal fell through at the dealers I sat back and did a bit of thinking and research. I already have a trail rig(87 built 4runner) So I really wouldn't be taking the PW on the trail unless it was to pull out my 4runner, which in that case would be perfect! It was to be my daily driver and occasional family vehicle. That is when I took a look at the MPG. Damn! 10mpg on ave. If it got even 13mpg which is what my 4runner gets I would have been ok with it, but 10? Well, that made the decision for me so a new 2500 it is. With the new suspension it rides very nice and love the 17mpg. Don't get me wrong I still long for the options of the PW I just couldn't live with the mpg's. I will say one thing I love my 2500 and when they come out with a diesel Power wagon my shiny 2500 is getting traded in! In a heartbeat! Congrats on the new rig.
