I'm DONE! Calling it quits!

Driving like a grandma that is :).

I used this last tank of gas to drive my new CC SLT as gingerly as possible to see what the difference in fuel economy was at this point in my truck. Very slow acceleration, mindful of the speed limit (which I am usually anyway), coasting to stops at signs and red lights, etc, etc.

My second tank of gas driving with a heavy heavy foot got me 12.5 or so. This tank got me 13.73 driving like a grandma (these were both hand calculated).

So...I'm done. I'm not going to sacrifice going nuts driving my truck for 1 mpg. I'm back to driving like a teenager with a gascard from pops :) (of which I should note, I am neither a teenager, nor do I have a gascard). Besides, it's more fun that way anyway.

I only have 1700 miles on the truck, so I know it will get a little better, but...I just can't bring myself to drive that way all the time.

That's funny! I am still in the grandma stage right now breaking it in with the occasional romp. But I will soon revert to my old driving habits.

I drive about 35 miles per day in traffic both ways going to work and coming home and my mpg was ranging from 12.5 to 13.0. That was driving like you said "Grandma speed" and was wondering why my mpg has not gone up. Started to push it a little more and im now averaging 14.2 mpg! I dont get it but it went up.

Once you get some miles on it , mine has 4100 since Feb. 28, tou will see the milage go up . Also you will see the water temp go down some.

My ?? is : with rinning the a/c on at high way speeds, does the fuel saver light come as ofton as much when you drive with the a/c off??

When I hit 500 I started driving more aggressive, lol the other day looked down while passing a line of cars on the freeway and was doing 105 thing sure rides nice at high speeds.

Oh and I never look at the mpg, if that was going to be an issue I would of never got a HEMI :)

Tankit,

I am going to do the same thing. For the past 3 tanks of gas, I've had the trip meter reset when I fill up and I'd watch it, miles till emtpy, and the computer calculated MPG.

Not going to this tank. I turned it back to read the miles on the truck and am going to do my best to not even pay attention to it and drive my normal old ways and see what I get then.

I'm not really worried long term about the mileage, but I am finished with worrying about it short term.

I drove it like a gingerly for the first 500 miles with some romps here and there, but now that it is out of the Dodge Recommended Breakin Period, I'm going to drive it like I normally would.

after 500 miles my startup checklist changed to:

1.Esp off.

2.seat belt while adjusting radio.

3.gas to floor.

Same way for me. When i drive like a grandma i get 12.5-13.5 but when i drive normal (i'm not crazy behind the wheel) i avg 14.5+ Same thing with my charger and f350...

i like to think i babied my new ran to a good fledgling... after i had ran a few tanks of gas, i passed a road with some pretty gnarly mud holes. i couldn't resist. that when i realized that i bought a truck to have a truck. if i wanted a truck to look pretty and not do anything, i would have bought a ALC Silverado, or one of the chromed up Lincoln trucks.... That day i had to pull a buddy out and he's got a f150 with 6" lift. i also learned that the goodyears aren't that great.

I get a solid 14, back and forth to work every day. About 25 Miles. I have gotten as good as 19 on the Highway on long trips.
