4.10 and 4.30 gears

who carries gears for this truck? what brand is the best? any info appreciated.

No one makes 4.30 gears for the 9 1/4 chrysler rearend. Plenty of manufacturers make 4.10's. I can't fathom why no one makes 4.30's-it seems like the perfect gear for our trucks in a lot of cases. I'd have figured that there would be enough demand to justify making them.

thats is just dumb. i cant beleive they dont make 4.30's. anyway where can i get 4.10's?

4 Wheel Parts sells gears for or truck but I went up there on Thursday and tey told me the truck would need to be flashed when changing the gears but theres no programmer out yet. The only two people that I know have changed the gears both had the truck re-flashed. Emsdad went thru the dealer to have the gears changed and Daytona -R/T said he used "VCT/PVO Stage 3 program flashed for 4.10's". Has anyone else actually changed the egars without a re-program?

At least on the 08 and earlier trucks, you do not have to have the truck reflashed for a gear change. This is because the speed sensor is in the differential on the ring gear side of things. Thus, the truck would not care how fast the driveshaft has to turn for a given road speed, as it reads the speed from a point AFTER the ring/pinion have done their thing. The only reason you have to reflash the truck to correct the speedometer is if you change tire height, as that is one thing the speed sensor would have no way of knowing about. I suppose it's possible that the '09 ecm might know what rpm to expect at a given indicated speed, and it might kick up a fuss if it did not see that rpm, but I have yet to hear that this is the case.

Here are a couple:

I know the speedometer would read the right speed with a gear change but it does seem like the load on the motor at different rpms would be different after the change. This is where the shift points might need to be re-programed to get the full benefit from the change.

Do you think 4.56 gears are too much? will i run out of steam on the top end at the track? I have 3.92's if I goto 4.10 it might not be that much of an increase. what do you guys think. ihave a 4x2

4.56 for 1/4 mile.
