I've had a K&N in almost every vehicle I've owned, to include my Harley's. I replaced the stock filter the 2nd day I had my new Ram, IMO you just can't beat the K&N product.
I noticed a little more ummf in the acceleration but its minimal with the drop in alone with a whole new CAI its alot more prevalent dont cut corners just rip it out and get an aftermarket it saves money and disapointment.
Just replaced air filter with a K&N at first oil change and by the dash computer getting less mileage not sure it will take computer alittle bit to reset from getting more air but hope it changes, didn't notice any power gain but seems to run smoother.
I used mine for 17K with no problems. I cleaned it every 6000 miles and still have half of the cleaning stuff left. At the very least it will save money over the long term.
Your best filters are a quality paper.K&Ns flow better but also flow more dirt better.Unless your doing oil analysis(uoa)universal oil averages you have no clue to how much silicates(dirt) is getting through one.Unless running lots of mods where more air flow is needed I'm sticking with a quality paper filter. Also cleaning any filter real frequent allows more dirt in.A dirty filter to a certain extent filters better then a clean/fresh filter.Let the filter do its job
