where should i buy HID'S from?
 

ok. im thinking a mod might be able to sticky an official HID thread? im starting to get lost with all of the info...:)

anyway. after having hid's in my grand cherokee i have to have them in the ram.

im wanting to really piss some people off and have lo beams. and my fog lights. (09 sport quad)

where is everyone getting theirs from?

what should i be looking for?

whats the deal with resistors, etc?

give me some info guys.

i got mine from vvme.com , i bought 2 sets from them before and over 3 years of use and never a problem

Bought mine from hidxtra. Just had to indicate that I needed the capicators for the lows in the comments section. Arrived yesterday and installing next weekend. Looks very simple with a plug and play setup.

im interested to see how it goes. man they seem almost impossibly cheap nowadays..

I too just installed the HIDxtras...

I got 5Ks in the low beams, as they are the brightest lumen output (3250)

I have run cheap, expensive, in the middle conversions in my last 4 to 5 vehicles... I have never really noticed a difference in the function.

The HIDextras cant be beat for the price. The price has really come down on these kits, so dont be dooped into buying the real expensive ones. In my experience, the HIDxtras are all you should spend.

I have found that the more blue the light, the harder it is to see in bad weather and wet roads.... I like the 5ks from HID extra because they are TRULY white. It has been discussed on many of forums, white is the best light to see in bad weather. I have to agree.

My wife has a 6Ks in her Acadia and I now want to switch out her bulbs to 5K. After she was in my truck tonight, I got the go ahead to order new bulbs for hers....It was night and day lighting up the road. I am doing my fogs real soon.

milkman. what exactly is involved in installing them? what exactly is plug and play. and what is spliced? im assuming u have to splice something because it doesnt ask what vehicle u have. just what bulb type?

did u have to order capicitors like WESIDE did?

i thought on their website they say you dont need any capicitors etc?

This is the first time I have tried them with out a extra relay harness.

I did use the capacitors though. They just plug in line between the ballast and the old light bulb electrical connector.

Imagine this, the ballast is now your old bulb, you plug your light bulb wire into the ballast. THEN there are two wires that come out of the ballast that go to the new bulb.

Just trying to explain how easy the hook up is. Mounted the ballast behind the headlight on a support w/ large zip ties. Under an hour for install.

Now you will see "How and the heck to do i get the wires through the housing?"

There is a cap you unscrew to gain access to the low beam bulb. I used a reamer to cut a hole in this cap. You will see there is a grommet on the new HID bulb that goes in this new hole. I then cut an additional hole in the grommet to fish the wire going to the ballast from the old head light bulb. You can un-clip the wires of the old bulb connector with some precision tools, fish them through the grommet then reconnect the wires to the connector for a clean install. This prevents you from having to make a large non-waterproof hole to fish the connector through..

cool. im going to go through hid extras with a coupon. i have a sport model with the quad lights. h11 low and h10 fogs. i believe they say you only need the capacitors if you have the 9000 series bulbs which are hi/low in the same bulb.....

Crod----Negative, I believe you need the capicators for the h11 low beams. When ordering make a note in the comments and they will send you plug and play capacitors
