Wouldn't start this morning
Woke up this morning, tried to command start my truck to the usual single head light flash and no such luck, so i go out to it has a message on the evic system fault dissabled blah blah, then stick in the fob give it a crank and what do you know click click click click click.......a type writter going off inside my dash board, not even so much as a single starter engaging noise, no failed attempts to crank, just rapid clicks then says nope thats enough and gives up.
Luckily I got a ride to work from a co worker, very disapointed i must add brand new vehicle, less with 9,000km on it, block heater plugged in, and for some ungodly reason....Perhapes battery....i dunno it won't start in this mornings minus 34 celcuis. I'm still at work for a while yet today so i don't know the cause of the problem i'll persue it more when i get home. Any ideas???? it has started in colder weather, dash lights and radio all come on battery seems perfectly fine to run them... I dunno another item to add to my dissapointing list of things gone wrong so early |
sounds like a battery issue. Keep an eye out for any interior lights or any chargers left plugged in when you jump it. Negative 34 is pretty damn cold though, where do you live? If it's a battery issue, I'd recommend going with an optima or something with a large cold crank rating.

it was cold thats edmonton alberta this time of year its almost normal with block heater in that should be enough everyone else i know makes it, a new vehicle with all new components should start this weather almost without any block heaters period.
Oh and no cigarette lighters were being used or phone chargers, no interior lights left on either and i can't recall the battery volts whatever the first tick is i believe 1/4 tank if it were a gas gauge??? have to look at it again |
...did you make sure the outside plug works ? could be a tripped gfi take a look at that
|
good point... i guess i didn't read in depth enough for you to say that everything worked completely fine. keep us posted as I'm interested in what the problem turns out to be... by the way, i google the weather up there and holy f it is cold up there! I snow and winter, but dear lord...

extension cord has illuminated plug in's so i know the outdoor outlet has power thanks though...

I drive for AMA in edmonton, and yes, it's freaking cold, mine started at -38 but after warming for 30 mins, i drive to work, check engine light, and felt like it was stuck in MDS... got to work, finished work, fired up, let it run and no probs... I'll have to go to dealer to get the codes checked and cleared i guess... You should have a factory thermal cover on your battery, check your battery terminals for corrosion, and make sure, like said above, your plug works... If your in edmonton let me know, i can give ya a hand if ya need...

okay so got home played around a bit after a 12 hour shift battery still had enough juice to do all the same as this morning but i decided why not try a boost and sure enough started right up, must have just been under the limit yet still no reason as to why the low battery voltage unless just a weak oem battery... thanks for the help guys

Hi from Fredericton. I had the same problem with my new 2009 Sport with only 2000 km last week. Took it to the dealer after boosting. The problem was the radio. It kept drawing power even with the engine off. New radio was installed under warranty and hopefully all is well.

it was strange for something to have been drawing power since like i said 12 hours later that day it still had about the same power left and it was cold all day once again so it was as if it was drawing power just over night....who knows i'm not saying im perfect maybe i did leave something on some how or it just froze on either way hopefully it was one time i'm taking it in tomorrow we will see if they can find something
