Slyvania Silverstar ULTRA'S-Any good or what?
 

Was thinking about the Slyvania Silverstar ULTRA's? 4 headlight system.
Are they a PIN to put it? Any good? Dont feel like spending a fortune.Thanks

It will be hard the first time you do it. You have to remove the grill and then reach in through the wheel well to unclip the housing from the backside. Once you do it the first time then it will be much easier to do it again. I have had very good luck with silverstar bulbs in the past and they have lasted a long time for me but i have not used the ultras.

i have silverstars in my truck, they put out alot better output than the stock bulbs. As for installing its not that hard at all and once you do it once then next time it will be even easier like he said above.

Do any of the site sponsors sell these?

I put the Ultras in the High Beam slot on the Quad lights. I hear they don't last long, but I don't use the highs that much and with the poor stock high beams it needed help.
It gives me a better than stock brighter light, but the truck still has a poorly designed headlight system.
I used the Piaas in the low beams only because the silverstars weren't aviable in the H-11s at the time. I'm very pleased with the Piaas.

the only thing i noticed that i didnt like from my 09 Ram 1500 Laramie was the headlights. I wont sugar coat it, they suck! i went through 4 sets of HID "plug and play" kits and hours of frustration. I'll cut to the chase, if you can replace the stock bulbs, you can put in the right HID kit and be twice as happy. Perfect kit= HIDextra low beam (H11) 5000K and fogs (H10 or aka 9145) 5000k. Dont follow the 6000k trend as i was pulled over for my lows being to bright @ 6000k. Order both and in the notes put "need capacitors" its not rocket science and you will be very happy with them. They look like the pure white beams u see in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. but a tad brighter. I have S-vanias in my highs. DONT PUT HIDs IN YOUR HIGH BEAMS! unless u live in a very rural area. You cant "Flash" someone with hid highs because they take a sec to power/heat up and will be pointless. The only hard part is sticking double sided tape to the ballasts and sticking it to the frame rail away from engine heat and moving parts. Take my advice and do it right the first time! I dont work for HIDextra trust me, just glad they were there with a kit that worked. PM me if u want more info, i am very well versed in installing HIDs and not by choice! I'll walk you through it and took pics at every step. Its easy and so much better than halogens. Average high end car=4300K, so 5000k is perfect. everyone usually goes 6000k, not much brighter and could push a pull over cause of the blue tint. good luck

Kit is $150 for both Lo's and fogs. Put in coupon code fspecial-m and you should get $15 off if thats still running. If you put that in and it doesnt work take out the (-m) im looking at my receipt and thats what it says. I took shot-by-shot pics with my phone cam. I will ask my GF today how to get them on here (she's more comp saavy than I am). Its very easy and when I get the pics to you it will be a breeze. When u order make sure you put "need capacitors" in the notes. You do have a 09+ with quad headlights, right? anyway i'll try and get those pics in today. there are teo other guys that did it with pics, but they were not step by step, thats why I took a pic at every step. Kinda overkill but I dont want anyone to go through the crap I had to till I got the right kit in. I'll PM u when I can. Its easy, just a lot of steps involved in the way I did it cause I wanted the kit to be rock solid!

I put the Slyvania Silverstar ULTRA's in my headlights (2 light system) and fogs. Much better then stock, particularly the lows with the fogs on, seems better then the highs lone. The high beams are still just barely acceptable. Of course if you do a hid kit your highs will still suck anyway.
