Short Runner Intake Valve

This is the 4th short runner intake valve that is being installed on my truck, I'm sick of the stupid check engine light and I'm sick of taking my truck in for an issue I shouldn't have to deal with more than once.

The decision on the lemon law for my truck can't come soon enough!

jaflowers 06-23-2010 06:42 AM

That's the only thing that has gone bad on my truck too so far. Guess my dealer got in a good one though because the replacement one has worked great so far. I believe the mechanic did say something about re-routing the cable to it to give it a bit more slack. He seemed to think it was a bit to tight and that hard acceleration might have been moving/loosening it causing the check engine light. Might ask your guy about that. Good luck.

Mine has started to do it too, but they say it doesn't fall under the Lifetime Power Train warranty and will cost me the $100.00 deductible. I am not opposed to spending the money, it just chaps my hide that it isn't covered when it is clearly powertrain related. Are your dealers covering it? What effect does it have on driveability? My code usually resets itself after about 12 starts.

They dont replace the valve, their supposed to replace the wire harness under the TSB. If their replacing a valve their not doing it right. The factory wire harness was to short and will cause a separation at the plug and set off your CEL.

This is the 4th time it's been in for the same thing and it's still not done, they're waiting for parts - 3 days in the shop. Why didn't they just tell me they need to order parts and call me when they're in?

This is my first and last Chrysler product.

If they keep replacing the valve without fixing the wiring they're idiots. Either take it to a different dealer or tell them this is what they need to do. The truck is a good product but with everything that's in it's first year of production it has it's teething pains. You've either gotten a dealership with no standards or a tech that's too lazy/stupid to find the correct way of fixing your truck

I don't know how they're repairing it or have done it in the past, but it just ain't working - maybe I've gotten bum parts, maybe they haven't fixed it correctly, but all I know it just gives me more fuel for my case.

jawsdc 06-24-2010 10:07 AM

i'm gonna miss Thatmarkguy after his case goes through. i can't quite put my finger on it, but i know i'll enjoy every post!
good luck TMG, hope your next vehicle works out better for ya.

hounddogg 06-24-2010 06:40 PM

Find it hard to imagine its not part of power-train warranty.Call CHRYSLER and find out the skinny on it etc.

Thatmarkguy 06-25-2010 11:29 AM

Well, it's going on 4 days and still no parts.
If it's not done by the time I'm off work today at 3:00, I'm going to pick up my truck and just have them call me when the part(s) show up.

This is BS.

On a side note: The keyless entry on the Dodge Avenger that I have as rental works flawlessly. Maybe they could learn something from that.
