Best mod for MPG's

What are the best mod(s) for increased MPG's? I'm on track to put 35,000 miles a year on my new truck so even 1-2 MPG will help.

Not necessarily looking for power upgrades, but for mileage gains. Not looking to void my factory warranty either....

2010, 2500, 2WD, 3.73 gears 5.7 Hemi.

Thanks!

Trade it in for a four banger car. But in all seriousness, Open the exhaust up. Air intake. Possible new gears. You aren't going to get much out of it but you will get a little.

I know it's not quite the same thing, but I was able to get almost 2mpg better out of my 08 Dakota by installing a free flowing exhaust, a high-flow air filter (a cold air intake would have been even better), and a tuner. You might not see the same results, but I'd be willing to bet you would see a difference.

my 2010 5.7 with 3.55 gets 19.1 MPG down the freeway at 70 with 4 people in it.. When I had my 03 i was lucky to get 15..

Lot of extra weight on a 2500 frame and no MDS on the highway. It's never gonna be good, but the best things you can do is keep up on the maintenance and use good quality synthetics.
About the only MPG mod that you can do that will yield benefits enough to justify the cost would be an efan...

hmm. try drafting.

I read that a Tonneau Cover could save a mile or two per gallon.

RA11325 Jul 12, 2010 11:22 AM

I had a Tonneau on my 03 and i could not tell a diff with it open or closed. On my 10 I have a topper, again, I cant tell the difference.

WoodyNorman, what are you getting for MPG?

LOL best advice here, its amazing how much mpg improves drafting off a big truck. I tried this once and got over 20mpg on hilly roads

There's reallly nothing you can get for these trucks that will significantly improve mileage and justify the cost.

I have done it too with my 03, truckers get really pissed!
