Can't have anything nice, (first scratches)

Well, not even two months into owning the new Ram, I find out no matter how hard you try, sooner or later someone who can't park is going to try and park beside you.

Just saw this yesterday.

Any ideas of the best thing to do? Touch up paint on the little spot that went down to metal? Touch up the clear coat scratches too?

What would a body shop likely charge to fix it properly?

Thanks guys, I know some/most of you feel my pain, haha.

Fill with paint, wet sand with 1000 grit, buff and wax. The scratches will not be noticable. The part up top... Well if that is a dent it will be :)

no matter how far you park, how well you take care of your truck, some idiot is going to park just beside you and hit your doors, bumpers, sides, etc, people just dont give a chit sometimes...

sana

They are not scratches though, they are chips out of the clear coat. The part up top is not a dent, just chipped down to the metal.

You can still fill with touch up, wet sand and buff. If you have not done auto body before I recommend you practice on a lawn mower first or find someone who has done it.

Here is a video, they did not have to fill the scratch, but it shows the wet sand and buff process. This does work if done properly.

Thanks for the vid! It doesn't look to scary to try. Good thing it is on the corner of the bumper and not in the center of the hood.

The dealer should have some paint for me this week, so I will try to touch it up.

Thanks again!

The day after I got mine someone backing out of a parking lot scratched mine too, the rear wheel well cover on the passenger side is scratched, no dents however....

Don't worry bout it guys. It gives the truck character...one of a kind. I'd rather have these little scratches than most of the mods I see people doing lol

That is one of the reasons why I lifted my truck. If they hit something on my truck it will be either my nurfbars or my tires lol. I hate people that don't care about other people's stuff.

after four years, you will not care anymore... every time I wash my truck, thiers something new that wasent thier... the first cut is the deepest ... it only hurts more from this point on ...
