I'm pretty sure that it's due to radio interference. That's why it does it sometimes and not others and it's not repeatable on demand. I noticed that mine often does it when I'm parked at a few particular locations/business areas that I frequent... and there are other certain places that I don't recall it ever doing it.... like home.
I mentioned it to the dealer, but they often can't do much about anything intermittent unless they can reproduce the issue or they get a bulletin or something from Dodge.
As annoying as it can be (like when it's pouring rain), I just keep pushing the button and it eventually works. There's one auto parts store I frequent that it always does it, so now when I'm leaving, I start pushing the button when I'm halfway across the parking lot and 9 times out of 10 it unlocks by the time I reach the truck.
