Dodge adjusted tow capacity increase for 2010's ?
I didn't realize this until I was reading the 2011 Tow Manual I got from Trailer Life magazine today but a similarly equipped Ram 1500 Crew Cab now has a tow rating of 10,000 lbs for 2011. Apparently this was the rating for the 2010's as well and there were no hardware changes to account for the rating increase. So my 2009 1500 now has a tow capacity of 10,000 as opposed to the 8500 capacity when I bought it ???
If this is the case I'll take it, this has to be the cheapest mod ever to increase tow capacity !!! http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/07...50-pounds.html |
I contacted Chrysler about the different Tow capacity between the '09 and '10 Ram and I was told that what change was the system they use to measure it but to stick to the recommended for my Truck.

I hear a new Abbot & Costello version of Who's on first? here. |
that does seem a bit ridiculous. Im sure if it became an issue for warranty claims they will stick with whatever is in the book.

They are all under rated in my opinion I have expressed this before. I had a 79 chevy van that I loaded 3 tons of news paper in it daily for 5 years. Went thru 2 trannies and some rear end gears once and the regular stuff like brakes every 3 months or less LOL we baby these things...they are trucks and a lot stronger frame and stuff then the old ones.
