I'm looking at a new Ram and have a couple questions. One is dealing with the 4x4 on them. The ones I've looked at have 2H, 4H lock and 4L. the pamphlet on them shows two transfer case options but isn't really too detailed about them. The sales person at our local dealer didn't really seem to know much about them either as he just sells what comes in. I currently have a '99 Durango where the 4x4 has 2H, 4H part time ( which is 4H lock for snow and mud only), 4H fulltime (all road surfaces) and 4L. I was hoping to get the same set up in a new truck. Is it available in the newer Rams? If not what was the last year they had that set up? Also with a levelling kit installed what are the biggest tires I can put on 17" rims on a 2010 or '11?
As I understand the full time 4WD is only available on the Laramie and maybe the TRX. I don't know if that's an option available for all models. I could be wrong about this though. I do know that they are both offered, so you should be able to find what you're looking for in the tranny.
My 2010 Sport has the four wheel auto setting. You have to pay extra for it, but it IS available. This is the equivalent of "all wheel drive" that you could use on dry pavement.
