Question Dodge Ram Riveted Oil Dipstick?

Is it just me or is it a very strange design that Dodge double riveted the shaft of the oil dip stick, making it a two piece, on the new Dodge Ram 1500's?

Yup, they`re rivited. Not to worry, it isnt going anywhere.
Dipsticks have been built like that for many years on other vehicles.

Yes they have and I have seen a lot of them broke off at the rivets. Had to fish the broken dipstick out with a slip needle nose.

Question But Why?

My only question is why didn't they simply make it one piece of metal like other manufacturers do? I sent this question in an email directly to Dodge. I am waiting for a response. As hounddog states, that is my fear, with normal wear and tear and not abuse, they will loosen and come apart. Rivets do not last. I have seem this in the past. If I can find a better one piece aftermarket, I will get me one.
