5100's tire combo question
I am going to put the bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks on my 2010 trx4 and was wondering what the minimum setting is I could use for a 33x12.50 tire. I am going to get new rims with the tires and needed some opinions on 20" vs. 18" as far as ride quality, and proper offset, I have no clue about the offset. I have factory flares, and would like to keep the tires flush with the outer edge.

Also are the bilstien shocks still the best way to get your nose up a little, I was going to order them tonight, untill my truck broke down, now im on hold wondering if i should do anything at all.

take a look at my prior thread....i added them to my big horn.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...pic-heavy.html They will raise the front end of the truck. You have a TRX right? If so remember your truck sits .7" higher than standard RAM's. You can add spacers and it'll so the same thing. I decided to add the 5100's just because all the positive reviews w/ the proper tools it's relatively easy, I ran into a few issues w/ corroded bolts/nuts but thats due to living up north. Other than that it's pretty simple. Unless your paying someone to install them, then that's all pointless that I posted above ^^ hah. As for tires I don't know since I am still running stock tires and rims. I plan on downgrading to 18's and going w/ some Nittos. |
The stock tires on a 1500 2wd with 20s are 33 so....

my truck has 265/70/17's on it, and from what i understand thats what all the trx4's came with from factory thats roughly a 31.5x10.5 and they look tight in the front well. I was confused about the trx i have read that they have different shocks. the rough country lift kit said trx will achieve an extra inch of lift with thier kit, I didnt know what i would gain or loose with the 5100, i guess I could just compare the lenghts when I do the swap.

The TRX comes with different struts...
There is a setting on the 5100 for stock (non trx), stock (trx) and a couple of higher settings, the highest of which is about 2 inches above the stock (trx) setting. |

ive got a 6 in pro-comp on an slt, i went with the bilsteins and raised it to the highest level at 2.8 inches the front nose was incredibly higher. i went ahead and put a 1 1/2 inch rear spacer from ready lift. now my 35s look so tiny, but i tower over everything, even 2500/3500 with lifts and 35s. i cant wait to put on some 37s. it def improved the ride. i love em.
