Smile 2010 Ram Trailer Brake install info

Thanks for the pictures and write up. It took me about a half hour also, but couldn't have done it that fast with out your thread and pictures. I purchased the trailer brake and bezel from "DCJ Parts" (dealership in NY) on line for $118 including shipping. Terrific deal if you buy the two pieces separately. The kit runs $225 to $300, but it does come with 3 screws - Wow. I ordered part # 56029431AH-OEM Brake control unit and part # 1EB13XDVAA - Dark gray bezel. Tan bezel is part #1B12DK2AA a just FYI.

I didn't put true screw that goes vertically from the trim bezel into the controller in and it ended up moving just a little and the controller stopped working. It wouldn't let me increase the power, since the controller kind of separated from the front trim piece. I put that screw in and all is good again. Took about 15 minutes each time.

Glad you found it useful! Mine's still working well, but I still need to ask the dealer to add it to the EVIC.

Yes I did it in mine but it is a lot more work because you have to splice into wires they are not in the male ends that go into the female slots on the controller. I had to use spade connectors to wire it in. Again it is not plug and play and if you are not good with electronics or are afraid to cut and go crazy it is not for you. If you have questions or want to do it I will help you just send me a PM.

Where did you get the screws to secure the controller to the bezel?
It looks like there should be 2 screws to hold it together, one on the top of the controller and one on the side.
What size screws did u use, it seems like the t-20 torx screws used on everything else are too big.
thanks
