Yeah, chance it that they fix it or just simply perform the update that I provided and know that it's fixed.
The only waty the dealer would know for sure that it's fixed would be know if there is a PN change or a supplier PN change and then to know what it is. Knowing the dealer, they'll just put a new part in and if it works at that moment, they're done. Problem is they may use a part of the shelf and may see you back for the same issue.
Heck, it's worth the 1/2 hr to try the update and not be frustrated again.
I know the update works and, It's help about a dozen people already.

As an edited note, I just helped another person on a different forum who had the same issue. If you'd like to see the results, the link is below: (you'll have to remove all the added spaces between the words. The forum wouln't allow it in the full link form)

Ah, ok. Actually, I think that if you look up behind the glovebox area you'll see the cable taped to the harness. This is a give away cable that Chrysler has in the harness. They gave it away with the option of the customer to install or not. This way they were able to have just 1 dash harness to cover all options available instead of 6.
Here's another link from a guy that went thru this with his truck.

Remember to take out all the added spaces in the link and add the lower line. Darn restrictions.

OK so I took it to the dealer today , and he brought it to his radio electrician specialist and the guy said hes never seen anything like it. The techs exact words are ... "It's possessed, Time for a new truck"

Either way. I got him to show me where the uconnect module is. Its behind the glove box, I disconnected it and all my issues went away. He said it could be the radio, Could be the module, Could be the steering wheel switches, hes like hard to know until he starts to throw parts at it. I just said disconnect it and left. lol.

OK, I can say that I know what the problem is. Did you by chance look at the other thread that I linked you to. He had the same issue. It is not the radio, it's not the steering wheel controls and it's not "possessed".
There is a CAN BUS message that is going to the Uconnect module. There is a fix for it so that Uconnect will ignore that incoming message.
1) I have given the instructions for the fix.
2) I have helped over a dozen people who had the issue and no longer have it. In fact I'll be helping another person on different forum from New Zealand later today who saw me he help another member.
3) Do you have the contact information for the dealer and the person that helped you? If so then I can contact him to let him know thaat Chrysler should be releasing this fix within the next week and they'll be able to fix this issue the next time they see it. (you can PM me this info if you'd like). I'm not saying anything bad about this dealer. You can't fix something correctly if you don't have the right tools.
Let me know if you'd like further assistance, ok.

Ok so I read the thread you described. Its my exact problem. Now heres the kicker. You told me to install it. I still don't have a usb port. I pulled out behind the glove box no cables no ports. None on radio. Hard to do an update for it without a port to do so with. So now what?

Here's how you can tell if it's really not in the truck.
Drop the GB door down toward the floor, look inside the dash to the far right end of the dash. You'll see a black module about 4"x6" and look like the one in the picture below.
***don't pay attention to the PN's, the picture is only for you to see what it looks like*****

There will be 3 gray connector ports on the module. A 22 pin, a 10 pin and a micro USB connector. Only 2 connectors will be used, the 22 pin and the micro USB. How many connectors are attached to your module? If there are 2, then you need to dig a little deeper to find it in the factory harness as mentioned in that thread.

Now here's the next option. As of this morning, Chrysler finally released the SW update for this issue that you're having. The TSB # is 08-050-12
Here's the link for the TSB, it was to large to add to my post.http://www.mediafire.com/view/?wqudkd4vxho30pn

There should be a regular mini USB port (female) on the back of your Uconnect module that will accept a "regular" mini USB (male) connector. Problem will be finding one that ends in a female "regular" USB port.

Thanks lots. I don't have the connector. Only the big one was connected to the module. SO i'd need to find a little usb to usb type dealeo and I really don't intend to spend any money to fix it. I think i'll just leave it disconnected. Its pretty useless anyway, voice commands take longer to do anything then me just doing it myself anyway. Thanks for the help!
