Do RRT's expire with basic warranty?
I called my dealer about my '09 with 65k miles to get RRT 11-019 performed for tailgate spoiler replacement and RRT 11-017 for broken exhaust manifold bolts. They basically said all RRTs that I was due had been performed and that RRT's expire with basic warranty. They will not perform those. I know my lifetime powertrain warranty should cover the bolts anyways, but are the lying to me?

I was told the same thing about my manifold bolts by my local dealer and didn't buy it, but they're also not the brightest bunch.. It took them 3 trips, a week and a half, a set of hub bearings and a new sway bar bushing to realize my squeak was just a loose shock tower. Gotta love warranty work.

Rapid Response Transmittal's are covered under the provisions of warranty. If the warranty is expired for the particular item then the RRT is not covered. Same with any TSB's (technical service bulletins) that may apply. |

It's surprising to me that if there is a known, identified, and documented defect that Dodge is unwilling to correct it given that it is out of warranty.

RRTs and TSBs are not the same as recalls. Recalls are usually safety related and are done, at the manufactures expense regardless of age and miles.
RRTs and TSBs are more for the dealership than the owner. They are basically telling the dealership if you see a vehicle with these symptoms, it is "likely" this, and this what you should do to correct it. They are to help prevent wasted time and resources diagnosing the same things over and over. Hopefully it happens under warranty, and it usually does. They don't issues these for 10 year old vehicles. If the warranty has expired, it is out of the owner's pocket. |
exaust bolts were covered on my truck out of normal warranty under the lifetime powertrain warranty
