Default Have both pre-cat 02 sensors failed?!?

Hey guys. The CEL on my 2010 5.7 started coming on a couple of weeks ago out of the blue. I reset the codes and all was good for about a week and it came back on. Reporting P0032 and P0052. I reset them again and after 3 cycles, it came back on, so it appears the problem is real and not intermittent.

I know those codes mean that the heater circuit resistance is high on sensor 1 in both banks 1 and 2. But it strikes me as unlikely that both sensors failed at the same time. So I'm trying to figure out what both pre-cat sensors have in common that isn't also shared with the post-cat sensors.

Any of you guys ever run into something like this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be checking wiring too to make sure that no critters have gotten up in there and munched something, thereby making it short out.

Thanks Dodge Dude. I just got out from under the truck and all the wiring looks good. No damage, nice and clean and no nicks or gouges.

It is somewhat possible that the O2s went out, very uncommon but still possible. You could always toss some new NTK O2s on it and see what happens. but I'm out of ideas. lol

I've seen both upstreams, both downstreams and sometimes all 4 of them. You might be looking at a PCM problem. Are you still under 80,000 miles?

Yes, still under 80k miles. Think I should just take it to the dealer?

I did just go to advanced, and pull the codes again. It's P0032 and P0152 not P0052 as I originally thought. So it's bank 1 sensor 1 heater circuit high and bank 2 sensor 1 high voltage. There was also a 3rd this time which was P1129 which says it failed to enter closed loop, but I'm guessing that the first 2 codes are what caused the closed loop issue.

Yeah, take it in and see what they find. Don't let them just throw 2 sensors at it. The heater outputs are really easy to check. Erroneous O2 codes and some dead heater circuits are nothing new on the later model NGC controllers. I have replaced quite a few PCMs for them. There isn't a TSB for it on that year, but there is a "tech confirmed repair" listed. The newer minivans even have a recall revolving around erroneous O2 codes and a few TSBs for other years and models.

The high voltage code could just be an indication that the heater didn't drop the O2 voltage fast enough. The criteria can sometimes overlap depending on many things. Probably you have no PCM output from the upstrem O2 heater circuits. I see 1 maybe 2 a month on average and we work on a lot of cars.

Probably covered under the fed emissions warranty and depending on your state maybe that one too.
