Oil question

I've finally realized that no one can do an oil change right anymore these days. I have an 05 magnum..i know this is the truck forum, with a 5.7 hemi and found that they only put 6 quarts of oil in my motor. So I've been driving around for several hundred miles short one quart when I checked it. In all my years no one has underfilled the oil. The place before this one didn't put my oil filler cap back on and i drove a mile home with no cap. Then found out the next day at work they didn't secure the plastic dust shield so it dragged for miles.

I think driving a quart low should be ok but I wanted to check with someone here. I have 3 mopars and keep them in excellent shape. I'd hate to have had engine damage as a result of a piss poor oil change. I'm definitely going to be doing my own oil changes again.

thanks to anyone who can either put my mind at ease or get me fired up for a law suit.

Your truck will be fine down one quart. An oil change place screwed up mine and it was down THREE quarts and still runs fine. Where you could run into problems would be if you ran it at high rpm for a sustained period or if the outside temperature was high (oil cools the engine as well as the radiator).
Or how about this: Our Honda Civic was given back to us with NO oil after an oil change and was run for a full weekend before we realized what had happened.
We demanded a new engine (didn't get it) but received a 7 year extended warranty for our trouble. That engine is now 10+ years and still runs fine.

So, don't sweat the one quart difference. It's unlikely that any damage was done IMO.

thank you for the info. i figured i was ok just wanted to confirm. i really like my hemi it's been an awesome motor would hate to have some moron mess it up just by an oil change. i hate relying on people like that. i'm probably going to go back to doing my own oil changes.
