Safety recall N08 13V-038

Hi as topic says..

I'm new here on this forum and have a Dodge 1500 sport crewcab 2009

Now to the not so fun part...

I checked on Mopars site if I hade a saftey recall..
I had 2, first once was a simple U04 was a simple fuel tank strap.

The second well let's put it like this. The rear axel pinion nut that must be inspected. Well it came loose.
Didn't feel anything at all the truck drove just fine. Once in the shop as the pull of the cover lots of big metalpieces came out. I had been broken in serveral places.

Now the shop who has my truck, first they said that the need it for a week. Now they have had it for almost four weeks. They keep telling me that they are not sure what's covered by Dodge.
They had been mailing them for 3 weeks and no answer.

Today he called me again and said that if it was not covered by warranty that I had to pay for the hole diffential my self. And yes it was expensive here in Sweden. Almost 1400usd... and two weeks until they had it at the shop. So they are gonna have my truck almost 6 weeks....Damm I want my truck back!!

Has anyone else had these issues? What covered by Dodge or not?
My truck is a 2009 Ram 1500 sport crewcab..

Click on the links below and look att the pictures that they sent me..

It's a recall, if the diff blows up before the recall is performed, dodge replaces the whole thing. They aren't real friendly about paying third parties to do the work though. They much prefer their dealerships handle it.

Hi...
The shop that my is at is a Dodge dealship here in Sweden. It was the only shop around here that had Dodge.
I really really hope that they will replace the hole diff but you never now until they are done....

One funny thing, my truck where ment to have this checked around august but then they called a said that
had a big truck that was towed to shop with a broken tranny. So I had to wait until they were done with that one...

Wonder if the pinion had loosen back then?

Thanks for the quick reply..

Regards Michael

Already at the dealer? Yeah, they should take care of that for ya then. Given that you are on the other side of the pond though..... don't know if they will rebuild, or replace yours. :)

Yepp...that's what i thought. But they couldn't proceed unless the got the approval from Dodge to replace it. Or if they wouldn't pay for it that I would....yeeah..funny.
Hope not the case here? Has anyone had the same issues with a blow diff?

How did your dealer handle it?

Regards Michael

There are a couple threads about it around here.

Our shop has had a couple complete rebuilds...all covered by fca.

Ginger Fish 12-02-2018 04:16 PM

Thanks guys...now I feel a little bit more relaxed :icon_santawaving:

primen did you shop had any issues with Dodge when you had the diff blown?
They told that they already had ordered some spare parts that should be replaced but they were not sure about the complete diff.?

I got a number for the FCA Sweden, I guess I'm gonna have to give them a call tomorrow then..

No problems with dodge for this recall. Its all detailed in the recall literature and pretty straight forward. but yes, they will have to go thru the normal rope jumping fca demands before it can be approved. It you don't follow fca protocol...they charge it all back to the dealer.

Ginger Fish 12-07-2018 03:57 PM

Hi again...

Talked to the shop yesterday. And asked IF they had got in touch with fca after I gave them the phone number?
And they finally had done that. Asked them IF the diff was covered by dodge? He couldn’t tell because he didn’t know? The guy who handel this warranty didn’t know yet he Said....hmm....

Im getting seriouly tired of them!! They had my truck for 5 weeks now!

another funny thing happend. A friend of mine has a 2010 ram who also has this recall. He went out to them as well.
they inspected his truck. And they Said that his diff was trashed aswell. Gave him the same price as the gave me?

don’t they have pull the back cover of to do such an inspection? Before they tell anyone that the diff i trashed?

don’t know of I like were this is going.

Any suggestions on what I shall do?

regards michael
