Since that's all software controlled behind the scenes, your best bet is to get the diagnostic codes read out to help determine where to start the troubleshooting. It could be an issue with the rotary gear selector, an issue with the transmission control module, or possible a bit of software corruption. If you still have a remaining factory warranty this may be covered by warranty. If you do not have a remaining warranty that would cover the related systems, or a scan tool that can access the transmission module, then you may want to try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and reconnect to see if a mild reset gets things functioning properly again.
