Adding subs.
 

I got a 300 w amp and I spliced the rear speckers at the head unit and ran them to the amp. Now when i connect the amp and turn the head unit on it says sp error and i can dissconect the amp for like 5 sec and reconect after music starts and it seems to be fine, Anyway to fix this?

Could use some more detailed information. Are you using a factory head unit or aftermarket? What do you mean you "spliced" Please list all your connections, where they are and how they were done and I might be able to give you a little help.

Ok its the factory infinity sound system along with the factory head unit. All i did was splice into RR- RR+ LR- LR+ which powers my amp. But now with My amp connected to the speckers it says sp error and i have to unplug the amp from the speckers and reconect to make it work. Anyway to get rid of the sp error thing? And i spliced in to the wires and the back of the head unit.

I could use some help. Also, I have spliced the wires like i said but I now have a slight whine in the subs. Its not bad. And its not noticable when turned up loud. So can anyone help me?

Ok, hold on before you catch something on fire. So you spliced original wires going to speaker and ran them to the amp?

Are you using RCA's, and do you have amplifier hooked up correctly? Your first time doing this?

No its a factory infinity head unit. And its got a 350wt dual amp going to a jbl box that has two 10" subs, Some Mids, And two tweeters. And it has a high imput on it aka Splicing the wires. So I have the rear speckers spliced behind the head unit running back to the amp. And yes this is the first time doing car audio, Been around installs all my life but just havent done my own till now. And it works fine but i was wondering if i could fix it without using the switches (they just switch off the negative witch makes the head unit play music and when it starts i flip the switches to make my subs work.) i am now. (its just rigged up till after x-mas)

Give me a link to the amp and subs you have. Do you have everything running off of that amp?

So you took the wires coming form headunit, spliced a piece going to amp and left another straight to speaker?

There and the only reason for the switches is to cut the power to the amp so the factory amp doesnt think the speakers have been disconected. Anyway I could remove the amp?

Ok, you did what I thought you did. Your speakers should not have a wire connected to the headunit. You should have a pair of RCA's that go from the headunit to the amp. From there you cut the wire from headunit to speakers. Run a new wire from amp to speakers.

I am surprised you have not killed anything or caught anything on fire honestly. Do you even have a power, ground, and remote wire hooked to the amp? Does the green light come on the amp? Did you hook the subs up in the power and ground side of your amp?
