New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

Ok, if some of you don't remember, a couple months back, I bought 2 JL w6's. It turns out that they can't fit in my truck without total customization in my truck. So I bought myself some new Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1's. They have 1400w peak power, 350w RMS. Any ideas on an amp?

that still seems a bit weak for my subs, i need 350rms to each sub and 1400 is peak for each sub.

I would suggest something in a 2 channel with bridgeable abilities. heres why if you evr want to change the setup of the system you have room to build on. I have one 2 channel bridged for my sub a zr240 running my highs and mids. thats 7 speaker total on highs and mods not counting the sub. With the 2 channel i can wire in mid bass or other if i wanted cause i have the room.

Its good if you want to almost double the recommended rms. I think its too big. Do you not like that phoenix gold amp?

habeba, i have 2 kappa 10.1's that i need the amp for, and yes, even though it is their product, the rep. told me that the infinity 1211a is a good choice of amp. he said it would be running 400rms to each sub if bridged at 4 ohms. so that makes mne think that the amp should be good also because it is the same brand as the subs i have. thump, i only plan on running the amp to the subs. i am getting a new HU (possibly the Alpine IVA-D100 or IVA-W200) and im not sure if i am even gopnna get new speakers anytime soon. so yeah, the amp is only running to the subs and thats it. not to the speakers. Thats why i am looking into a mono amp.

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

Ya it would get 400 rms at 4 ohm to each...but you will be running two 4 ohm subs in parrallel so it will be a 2 ohm load and will be 1300 rms soooo 650rms per channel....and that is double the rms

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

cant i bridge it at 4 ohms? it doesnt have to be parallel.

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

Then it will be 8 ohm with series and it will only get like 212 watts. You can only run then 2 or 8 ohm.

Its not a mono amp like you wanted, but it will work jst fine. You can get that amp cheaper at other stores. My friend had a smaller version of this amp and it held up very good for him and the next person that got it.

I would go about 400-600 watts on those subs... They are not meant for High output... It sucks that you couldnt get those w6's in Im sure that there could have been an application for them in there but oh well... I would check into an Autotek mm1400.1 its perfect foy your application u would give the subs 500watts at a 2 ohm load to the amp. I know a couple of the dealers for Maxxsonics so I can see what i can do for you if you like?

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

Well, i narrowed it down to 2 amps... The Infinity 1211a and the Profile AP2000. One is a mono, the other, a 2-channel. I really feel like getting the Infinity. Reason being that it would match the subs and that the representative told me that the amp is the right match for the subs. The Profile seems like a good amp to me that will put out just the right amount of power as well. I think that all amps are under-rated. So instead of pushing 320w RMS per channel, i think it'll be pushing 350-360. So the Profile also seems like the right match. So there, I am stuck in the middle lol. But we have gotten somewhere.

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

How much are you looking to spend on the amp and then i can give u a better suggestion on amps.. The Infinity would match up well with the subs but That Profile isnt anything special

HighDuke1911 07-28-2006 04:25 PM

RE: New Subs for my truck... Which amp?

Well, i dont wanna spoend more than 500$. Thats why i am looking more so at the infinity amp because it is a great match. My thinking is that since my subs are infinity, why shouldnt my amp be infinity? Right? But if you said you might have better amps for me, talk to me. But dont forget, I want roughly 320-400w RMS going to each sub. I dont want anything more than 400 please.

how about an Eclipse Amp? Let me get a price on that Autotek amp from my guy, as well as i think there are some other amps that my other dealer has as well... The Autotek is a great amp... Another amp i would look into is a jbl 1000.1 or this Kicker http://cgi.ebay.com/06-Kicker-ZX1000...QQcmdZViewItem

ill get u the prices on the Autotek though

CaptainPioneer 07-28-2006 05:11 PM

THe Autotek is $450 but he is not sure if he can get that out to you because of his corporate limitations... Im still checking on what deals my buddy has, he is having a major sale at his shop so u might be able to pick up something really nice really cheap
