Friday, October 26, 2007 [/align] Chrysler names Nissan veteran to exec post The Detroit News Chrysler LLC today said it has created a new executive post: Chief Customer Officer. The automaker has appointed former Nissan Americas senior vice president Douglas Betts to the vice president-level postion; he'll report to Chrysler Vice Chairman and President Jim Press. In a statement, Chrysler said the role is intended to serve as an advocate for consumers.
[/align] "Now, the customer will define quality at Chrysler," Press said. "We are aligning our resources to bring us to world-class benchmark levels in quality and customer satisfaction, and this is an important step." Betts was senior vice president for total customer satisfaction at Nissan and also served as vice president of manufacturing quality. He has previously worked for Toyota, Michelin Tire Corp. and General Motors Corp. The statement said Betts will be "guided by the voice of the customer" and is charged with creating customer-centric processes, culture, systems and organizations at the Auburn Hills-automaker.
