It may have slightly decent horsepower for that small of a car, but it has no torque and thats why it is so slow accelerating. You would get ran over trying to get onto the freeway.[sm=smiley36.gif]
That is pretty slow, but I thought about it and since it's going to be sold in Europe (unless they were on the Autobahn) they'd want a little fuel-efficient car. The roads there are tiny!
Taken from DaimlerChrysler Media Press Kit for Dodge Sling Shot...
Sling Shot features a rear-mounted, 3-cylinder, gasoline engine that is tuned to deliver 100 bhp and 0-60 mph time of about 10 seconds due to power to weight ratio of 17.4 lbs/bhp. A five-speed gearbox, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes complete the driver-oriented characteristics contributing to the Sling Shot’s efficient, responsive and fun-to-drive personality at the same time delivering up to 45 mpg.
Still beats the heck out of a Geo Metro or a Ford Festiva!
Reguardless of it's looks, if they were to produce it for the US and give it the SRT-4's motor, I'd buy it right now. If they wanted they could put out the regular version and have a Sling Shot SRT-4 as well.[sm=smiley4.gif]
Chrysler Group officals were asked about an SRT-4's 2.4L Twin Cam Turbo 4-cylinder in a Sling Shot... however the 2.4L is just way too big to jam in the Sling Shot!
What if they put the engine up front? It looks like there would be more room. They could always do what they do in most Supercars and have the battery and radiator/air conditioner in the front and the engine in the back.
