Default I saw a next gen grand cherokee today

So, while driving home a little while ago, I saw a black jeep coming towards me with the badges covered in black tape. it had flat black wheels and the whole vehicle was painted flat-ish black, although it did have chrome (much of which was covered with black vinyl/electrical tape). the headlights were no longer the large oval lights, but slim, flat rectangles...similar to this image:

the rearend was also more trimmed down looking, with tail lights that run side to side rather than top to bottom, with a chrome strip connecting the thin horizontal lights. so, based on what i saw, this picture is indeed the next GC or some derivative of it...

unfortunately, i was unable to get pictures...i thought about cutting across traffic on red to follow and get pictures, but i had john in the car and i avoid stupid driving stunts with others in the car.

The new Durango is being built off of the same platform.

I think it's Fugly,

Too smooth, contoured, and plain to be a jeep.

Everything except the Wrangler is just becoming more and more Chrysler-like and less of a Jeep. It'll end up costing Chrysler in the end, you watch...

Even the Wrangler. The famous I6 gave way for a minivan engine you can even get a 2wd Unlimited! As TJ owner this is sickening.

I think it looks... well different but not nessesarily bad. Hopefully once they come out of chapter 11, this will help them get back on track to making some money

They need to drop the 6 different models (not counting Wrangler Unlimited as a separate).
Wrangler, Liberty, Grand Cherokee is really all you need. (Replace the Liberty for something closer to the regular Cherokee would be great though)
No vehicles that start their lives as a FWD.

Agreed (for the most part). I've had a J10 Honcho, a CJ7, a Wrangler and four GC's.
Give me a Jeep, something more like the old Cherokee, a more Jeep-like GC and the old Grand Wagoneer. You want to make all but the Wrangler in a RWD version, fine. But the 4x4s got to have a real front axle, no CV's! Since Dodge has the Ram and Dak, Jeep doesn't need to get back into the pickup market, except a Scrambler type, Wrangler based pickup would be killer and not really compete with the Dak, IMO.
Ditch the Compass, Patriot and Liberty (aka Nitro) as they are a joke...

Oh yea.
I'm jealous of my friends 1996 Cherokees solid front axle.

But RWD and SFA's produce a harsher ride. Wouldn't want those yuppies to spill their Starbucks.
