Default hemi outlawed in racing

Found a new thing about the outlaw of the hemi in Indy Racing series in 1952. Why do they outlaw hemis? Shouldn't they just build somethin better instead of outlawing the competition. According to the article I read, is that it was record shattering. Do you think dodge should build a smaller hemi v8 and get back into IRL or do you think it would be pointless?

NASCAR banned it too in 71 or 72. They were too fast. This is why the BOSS429 was born to compete, but it was banned too. I guess they tried to keep it so GM could keep up

It is alive and well in the NHRA top fuel cars, but that's about it I think. They average about 8000hp now.
