RE: Dodge Caliber Update
Heh, heh, heh, no buddy. It's smaller than the Neon.
Caliber is 173.8 inches long, Neon is 174.4 inches long.
Caliber's wheel base is 103.7 inches, Neon's wheel base is 105 inches.
Although the Caliber is 4 inches taller, and 1 inch wider. The Caliber is over-all a smaller car. It might look big, but it's smaller than the Neon. Check things out next time. lol [sm=icon_beat.gif]

RE: Dodge Caliber Update
yeah, i'd say it's just the perception from the shape, a wagon body style makes it look bigger, look at a magnum in person and it looks bigger than the intrepid, but it's not, the intrepid is physicaly bigger in length (by 11") and width (by .5"), the magnum is taller (by 2.4") though.

RE: Dodge Caliber Update
Just like horsepower, numbers on paper are but one thing.
The trend with almost every new car lately has been to increase the size - generally making them taller - over the previous model. Look at a current Camry or Corolla compared to the previous model.
Look at your own quoted measurements: Caliber is less than an inch shorter in length, but 4 inches taller in height and an inch wider. Based on that alone, the Caliber is a larger vehicle.
Now, to back up this point, images taken of the Caliber next to other vehicles give us an idea of how big the car is.
Is it MUCH bigger? No. But it IS bigger. At least, based on preliminary specs and test mules.

When I say small, I mean shorter in length. The whole top of the car is not taller than the Neon. The roof of the Caliber is slanted down from the back alot and is only 4 inches taller at the hatch in the rear of the car.
The whole point was you guys were saying it was SUV size and it's not. Eliminate the slant at the hatch and it's the same height and shorter in length.

It's longer than a RAV4, but shorter than a CR-V.
It's wider than a RAV4, but narrower than a CR-V.
It's MUCH shorter in height than both the RAV4 and CR-V.
So it's not an SUV. It's a tall car.
Vehicle height is measured at the tallest point of the vehicle. Not at the hatch.
Caliber is shorter in length than the Neon, but taller and wider. Therefore, it's a larger car.
I'd compare interior volume, but there are no numbers posted, prelim or otherwise, for the Caliber.
