DaimlerChrysler announced today that the Multi-Displacement System (MDS) technology now available for HEMI-powered versions of the 2006 Durango will improve fuel economy for the SUV by as much as 20%.

MDS cylinder deactivation technology is offered in seven Chrysler Group vehicles and 85 percent of HEMI engines. MDS switches between 8 and 4 cylinder modes in 40 milliseconds.

Across all HEMI models, MDS technology is expected to save 60 million gallons of fuel by 2007.

well if it's anything like the magnum it sounds the same running in 4 cylinder mode, I have yet to notice any difference in sound on my magnum when it switches between the two.

Most should average around 12-15... am I wrong?

Example, my mother's V-10 Triton R.V. gets 7-9 MPG. If your uncle's HEMI is getting the same MPG as a huge RV with a V-10...... get my point?
