No doubt more torque should now be available lower down but I believe the tranny still has 2 od gears .82 and .62 I believe. All fine and dandy for cruising empty on the highway but anyone buying a truck for pulling, can pretty much kiss the 5th and 6th goodbye while towing heavy. At around 2500rpm in D or 4th, it should pull pretty good. A simple gearing ratio change makes all your gears useable for those who want to tow and have no need for a diesel, and really doesn't hurt gas mileage that much. I'm not saying it's for everyone but it should at least be an option. Ford's 4.30 with better tranny ratios is about the only thing I like about their SD.
