It was asked recently, and my answer hasn't changed. HELL no!! Look, I wish I could afford one, I want a Viper so bad I can't stand it, have ever since I saw my first toy version; told myself "some day". And that's still a goal, someday.
Look, I also want a Lamborghini real bad, does that mean they should make a 4 cylinder version so it's slightly more affordable than the V12 models? Not even close.
The Viper has been "THE" Dodge to have since it came out, I doubt there are many red-blooded Americans that would truly turn one down if they could have one. Same with folks across the pond, I bet you could go nearly anywhere in the world and ask someone to name an American sports car, and Viper would be mentioned more than the Corvette. It's...it's just the top of the heap, I can't describe it. I still get excited everytime I see one.

People want a cheaper viper? Tell them to go find a used one. It would be a crying shame to disrespect and cheapen the viper line with something less than top-notch. Anyone who would suggest a lower performance viper is not truly a dodge/srt/viper enthusiast and therefore doesn't deserve to drive one....IMO

There is the challenger for cheap(er) thrills from mopar.
However I wish they would have kept the viper true to it's roots. It was designed to be a "parts bin supercar" that could run with stuff three or 4 times it's price. That is no longer the case. Although it is still significantly cheaper than the italian junk it competes with, it is no longer budget minded and simple.
