Rumor is that the medium-duty Dodge pickups, based on Sterling/Freightliner trucks, will be unveiled on March 1 in Atlanta at a fleet show. Observers expect a 6.7 liter Cummins diesel to provide power.
Talk to Drew. He's apparently already mentioned something about this in the Diesel section I believe. I remember seeing a tarp covered truck in one of his posts talking about the March show.
it is also rumored that the 6.7L Cummins that will power these trucks will eventualy find their way to the 2/3500 trucks. the only downside is all the smog crap thats on the engine, but the VGT (variable geometry turbo) is WAY slick in operation.
the power potential of the 6.7 is leaps and bounds over the 5.9. the 5.9 back in 89 when the cummins was first droped under the hood could put out 600hp direct from cummins, but it wouldnt last very long. the 6.7ag granted is only rated at 275hp and 750lb-ft, for on road applications I can see that go higher. I can only speculate here, but what you are hearing is probably someone that said the power would be better than 325-610, but didnt catch the better than part. if anything the power output should be that, or better than 375hp and 700lb-ft at the begining.
