I want to see a big block Viper V-10. An RB V-10. Imagine the power of that beast, especially with the Hemi heads.[sm=smiley3.gif][sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]

You want to do a Viper motor with a cast iron RB block and hemi heads? 125% of a 440 gives us 550 ci, vs the 500 of the current engine... and probably 300 lb more weight, right up in the nose where it does the most harm to the handling balance.

I vote for modern technology, thanks.

They do make aluminium RB blocks. Bigger cubes at 0 weight gain, now that would be great. They also have aluminium Hemi heads as well.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I wouldn't say 7.7L, just yet. But expect the coupe model to be the first to show off the new HEMI "VIPER" V-10, more than likely at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, or so some of the sources that i have talked to, say! Also don't expect it to look too close to the Competition Coupe, posted above, sources also told me that it will look much different.

Also, we do know one of the vehicles that will show up at the Viper Owners Invatitional, will be the all-new 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab... which has already been put into the dealership's dealer codes website.

It seems more likely to me that the Street Coupe would show up at VOI8 vs NAIAS, simply from a PR/communications management perspective. Chrysler is going to have a full load at NAIAS as it is. I think getting other models out before and right after (look for significant Chicago and NY debuts in '05) will be necessary to avoid diluting the press impact of each new vehicle.

Viper is a niche vehicle that gets huge press but sells in tiny amounts. If I'm the Product Manager for the Street Coupe, debuting it in front of an "accredited audience" -- one that we know has the wherewithal and inclination to buy a Viper, because they already have -- makes more sense from a corporate perspective than debuting it at NAIAS and having it suck magazine covers away from things like Airflite and Charger and the new trucks and whatnot.

The Comp. Coupe was the only model besides the ACR and GTS/R models to be not shown at NAIAS. All of the production and concepts of the Viper have been shown at NAIAS.

1989 - Dodge Viper RT/10 Concept Car

1994 - Dodge Viper GTS Coupe Concept (pre-production model)

2000 - Dodge Viper GTS/R Concept

2003 - Dodge Viper RT/10 (later SRT-10) pre-production model.

You want basically an Indy MAXX HEMI V10? While outrageous, I don't know if it would be the best thing for road racing. Nice idea, tho'...
