Jim Mateja of the Chicago Tribune reports that Dodge will shelve the world’s fastest production pick
Jim Mateja of the Chicago Tribune reports that Dodge will shelve the world’s fastest production pickup truck at the end of the 2006 model year. The Dodge Ram SRT10 features the same V-10 engine as the Dodge Viper sports car and is good for a 0 - 60 mph time around 5 seconds. The insanity of said power in a near-$50,000 pickup that gets 9/12 mpg city/highway on premium fuel must have registered with buyers, as they’ve pretty much stayed away. Mateja says only 2,000 have been sold annually since the truck debuted in 2004. And, surprisingly, the poorly selling SRT10 is not one of the vehicles included in Chrysler’s current Employee Pricing Plus sale.
We wonder if this will put a crimp in Ford’s plan to bring back its own high-powered truck.
