OK, here it is. Finally, a picture of the new Neon/Lancer platform:



This is the current thinking for the Lancer EVO X's design. It may change because of two things: pedestrian protection laws and a new head of design for Mitsubishi. The Evo X will get an all-new engine design and platform. The engine will be a spin-off from the new 4 cylinder created by Mits, Hyundai, and DaimlerChrysler.

The next-generation platform will emerge first in next year's new Outlander. This platform was designed by an effort from both Mits and DC.

Expect this to transfer to the Dodge Neon in 2006.

Can we also expect to see an AWD/Turbo Neon? They are making the EVO X one (just like all the other EVOs). I guess we will have to wait and see what happens come production time...

Posted this picture a few weeks ago. With all the conflict between Mitsubushi and Chrysler Group, it is going to be intresting what is said about this car in the next six months. I have had read a lot of rumors, and have heard a lot of things about the next Neon. One rumor is, the SRT-4 will still not get the EVO's AWD drivetrain, but it will recieve its 300 horsepower engine! So we will have to what and see.

Any news on the way the dodge will look? That mitsu looks like a cut and paste of a Audi grille, Focus headlights, and Mazda sides. I know it isn't, but thats some uncreative styling there.

 

Nothing really has been said about the next generation Neon body styling yet.
