Different license plate bracket for SRT's?
Anyone use someting different for your front license plate brackets? Meaning using something other than the Dodge supplied bracket. I don't want to drill a hole in the front bumper of the SRT8 Charger. Ideas are appreciated.

Try a body kit front with it pre cut into the body....I know I've seen one like that...

I want the car to remain in it's factory stock condition. Good idea though.

My state requires a front tag also.
Just do what I do for the front tag: http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/6159/dsc38941ck.jpg |

I think 3M adhesive backed velcro will do the job.

My dealer only drilled the bottom holes (the ones you can't see) and glued a rubber strip across the top so it wouldn't mar the cross bar finish.

RE: Different license plate bracket for SRT's?
I have had my car 6 days and already been stopped by the cops for no front plate. Actually my wife was stopped! I refuse to drill any holes in the front. I had a special plate holder that just gripped on to the grill on my Viper but the Charger has the honeycomb stuff in there. So I'm going to use a regular plate holder, put some foam pads on the back of it so it doesn't scratch the paint and then "wire" it into place by feeding the wires through the honeycomb grill with the bottom of the plate holder at the same height as the bottom of the front fascia. The grill honeycomb stuff is quite stiff and should have no problem holding the plate nice and firmly. If you go to a hardware store you can buy the mesh fencing wire. The kind of stuff they use to hold baseball diamond fencing together. It is like a really thick solder twist tie wire that bends quite easily but is very strong. You just wire the plate holder in place with the foam stick on pads on the back where it touches the car and then you can screw the plate on to it. The plate holder I got with the car from Dodge.

I'm the same way. My car has never had a plate up front since I bought it and I refuse to drill holes in the fascia. What I am doing is making a bracket that screws in from the bottom. If you look at 06MNRT SRT, just above the lower grill, there's enough room there to make an "L" shaped bracket and screw it in from the bottom...and then use double sided tape to keep it from bopping back and forth..hitting the paint.

The SRT front plate holder does attach from the bottom. It uses 2 screws that go under the bumper and the holder comes out and around to the front of the bumper. OK, WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THESE BRACKETS ? I'M IN A HURRY (TICKET DUE SOON)... THANKS '06, ~FFLAK 2006 SRT8M 20,000 miles in 9 months ;-) |
