Default Demon carburetor

Does anyone know what brand of carburetor was original in the 1971 Demon 340. I noticed that I have a 4 barrel Holley which I can bet is not original.......can not wait to see what else is missing,

Great, I have heard so many good things about the thermoquad. I ordered an Edelbrock and will look into a remanufactured (reconditioned?) Carter for numbers..
Thanks mr340,

mr340,
Do you know if it was a spread or square and would it matter which one I put on the 340?

The Thermoquad is a spread bore. My Demon came with a Carter AVS. I dont know why, manuer tranny maybe?

By the way, I am not ignoring you, I just havent made it out to the farm to get photos of my Demon yet. It is A jig saw puzzle at the moment, all taken apart to get ready for paint.

I got an Edelbrock square bore as they do not make a spread bore and mine is a manual, also. Will a square bore make much difference, detrimental or beneficial? No problem on the photos, but all the Demons I see have hood scoops on them. Mine does not for some strange reason...

The scoops were optional. my last Demon 340 had rear spoiler. hood pins, but no scoops from the factory.

mr340,
Do you know if a square bore will work in it as it came with a spread bore and what differrence it would make?

The intakes are different, as are the bolt patterns. If you already have a Holley on there, a square bore carb will work just fine (unless it is a spread bore holley) A square bore has all 4 butterfly's the same size, a spread bore has two small butterflies and two large butterflies in the back. Most after market intake manifolds come with the ability to run either type of carb.

* I looked at my engine and intake, both are dated 1970, I guess my Demon was an early one and got a 70' engine set up with the AVS carb

I have a couple of extra hoods, one has the duel scoops, I might part with it, dont know what i am going to do yet, mine is awaiting paint, If I go with a glass hood, I will probubly sell the others.
