Default Road Salt Stains on Carpet

Not sure if there are many people that have this problem, I know I do.

I have found that using Oxy-Magic works. It's a spray bottle. You have to soak it in then rub it with a sponge, but the salt rolls into little ***** that can then be vacuumed up.

Just a tip!

Damn! I wish I would have known this back in December. I had a crusty salt stain on the floor mat of my explorer. I tried everything I could think of and it wouldn't budge. No problems now as I traded it on my Magnum. But I'll keep this tip in case the problem arises again.

Thanks.

the problem with that is that u cant do that in the winter... but yea u do have a point.. all u have to do is throw them in a bath tub filled with hot water....

the best bet is to go to Walmart and pick up some cheap plastic floor mats

cheap plastic floor matts aren't good in the summemr so TAKE THEM OUT. The dye bleeds onto your other matts and carpet when it gets hot outside. Simple green spray it and rub it with short bristle brush and then vacuum it out.

i know this post is really old but it is winter and its comming the time again where the old man is letting up soon go to the coin operated car wash and hang your mats up working from top to bottom wash your mats you will see that you will remove more then just the salt stains.. . let them hang there while you wash the rest of your car. . . toss them in the trunk when finished and let them sit in the sun for a day at home. . .
