Lost miles per gallon with new tires
Have 2014 3500 6.7 Diesel Laramie with only 19500 miles on it and the wonderful Firestone tires that it came with are wore out. They did wear even just wore out.the were 275x70x18.
I up sized to 285x75x18 Toyo A-2. I used stock rims and put a 2" leaving kit.
Everyone tell me I will get 50,000 miles out of these but the problem is I lost 4 miles to the gallon I used to get 21-20 on the highway I am now getting 17- 18 if lucky. Any Ideas that I might try. I only got them Friday might go back and see if I can get some sort of deal with the tire dealer to get a Michelin. I know they don't make as big or a all terrain tire but I think I would get the millage back.
Thanks

Leveling will lose you about 2-3 mpg just in added wind drag. More aggressive and larger rolling resistance in just slightly larger tires will lose you another 1-2 mpg so that's about right.
This is my first truck in over 20 years I'm not lifting and going to bigger meats. Matter of fact, I'm thinking of going to a less aggressive highway tread in the stock size when my stocker Firestone ATs wear out...
