Clicking from HVAC by glove compartment
HELP- anytime the car is off and I open a door, the hatch, or start the car, I get a clicking sound for 15 seconds from inside the passenger side dashboard behind or above the glove compartment. I tore out the glovebox, and cheapo recycled cloth/cardboard cover off the bottom of that side of the dash. It sounds like it's coming from the right hand side between the blower motor and RF door. I CANNOT get a tool in there to remove anything, including the HVAC 'module' that might be doing the clicking. Is there a recall or a TSB for this horribly annoying problem? How can this module be removed without a robot or a $600 service visit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Probably just the blend door resetting itself. A lot of cars do this. Please state what vehicle you are referring to, year, engine size, mileage, etc.

clicking in car
2012 SXT 55K AutoCVT (2.0 or 2.4?)
Is there a way to get it to 'reset' as it has been doing this for a month now. Thanks. |
Clicking is usually a sign of a stripped or slipping actuator in the ductwork.

Is it possible to change the actuator yourself, or is it in an impossible to remove location?

I have not changed one on a Caliber. It sounds like the one for the door that controls whether it gets air from outside or inside(max a/c). Remove the glovebox and you should be able to see it. They are usually a small box with a wiring plug going to them. Our 09 has old fashion cables and a vacuum actuated recir. door. I think in 2010, the switched to the electric controls.
