Default Crankshaft sensor needed in 3.0 Yes/No

Hemiman02 mentioned that a crankshaft sensor is needed on my '96 3.0.

I have a connector that seems very clean, meaning that it might have been connected to a sensor. Haynes mentioned that the 3.0 does not have a crankshaft sensor in the 3.0

The connector that I have sits almost perfect at the back of the transmission in front of the motor mount. The new transmission has an opening where the sensor would be.

Can anyone confirm that a sensor is needed?? I might have forgotten to pull the sensor from the old transmission.....

Many thanks and apologies for sending all these questions by replacing the transmission..

The answer is YES. I finally got it started with a crankshaft sensor installed. Many thanks to Hemiman02 for mentioning that it was needed.
